Each month artists’ work is celebrated as Featured Artists for a month in a special display near the front of the Gallery. Their artistic works are featured during First Friday celebration, April 3rd , at the Gallery from 4:30 to 7:30 pm.
Cheryl Pennington
Cheryl, a Canon City native who lives just outside of town, often paints her beautiful view of Canon and the Wet Mountains. Watercolor is her medium of choice, but she is always discovering new techniques, such as her colorful collages that add texture to her artwork. She has won numerous awards in both watercolor and collage. Cheryl has been a part of the Artists Gallery since 2019.
Suzi Popkess
Suzi began painting over 50 years ago and specializes in Colorado and Southwest landscapes, still life, & Italian scenes. She lives in the country outside Florence where nature and Colorado beauty inspire many of her paintings. Suzi also is a silversmith and beadwork artist. Her jewelry includes semi-precious stone necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. Her silversmith designs are a blend of traditional Native American and nature’s simple beauty. Suzi has been a member of The Artists’ Gallery since 2017.
Tammy VanUlzen
Tammy’s acrylic and mixed media paintings are developed gradually using color, texture, and a blend of collage, abstract marks, and richly-layered surfaces. Rather than focusing on the recognizable, she paints her feelings. In her words, “My process is a conversation—a balance between the seen and unseen….the conscious and subconscious to encourage deeper ways of seeing.” Tammy is a new member of the Gallery.
